Luibeg at Plastindia

Luibeg have just participated at this year`s PlastIndia Exhibition in New Delhi – held every three years, this is Asia`s largest and most important showcase dedicated to all aspects of the plastic industry.

It was most important for us to exhibit this year in order to firmly establish our name in India as the officially appointed importer and distributor for the d2w range of additives manufactured by Symphony Environmental Ltd in the UK. Luibeg has over the past 7 years invested 1 Crore Rupees into research, development and testing of d2w products in India, culminating in the signing of a 15 year License with Symphony Environmental to operate exclusively within a number of Indian States and the Union Territories, and non-exclusively throughout the remaining Indian States.

Over the six days of the exhibition, we had approximately 1200 visitors to our stand and are delighted with the positive response and reaction from potential customers. Our Sales Director, Mr. L. Narasimhan who managed the stand, is extremely encouraged by the follow up business and enquiries which have been coming in continuously since the close of the exhibition. We estimate that at least 25% of the visitors are seriously interested in using the d2w additives – both manufacturers and end users.

On the second day, we were very pleased to welcome Mr. Michael Laurier, the CEO of Symphony Environmental Ltd to our stand and he was actively assisting with enquiries from customers during what was an extremely busy day with around 300 visitors. The third and fourth days were equally productive with a similar number of visitors.

Our objective was to introduce and promote the entire range of products and applications (containing d2w additives) which we have manufactured under trial over the past two years, many of which are now going into full scale production, including:- carrier bags/garbage bags; high clarity garment wrap; shrink wrap; food packaging; mono and multi layer pouches for milk, water and edible oils; PP woven sacks; thermo moulded trays and boxes.

We were also delighted to introduce three very special and important products - bags/film using a high speed additive – the very first manufactured in India - by our co-partners Everest Plastic Industries of Mangalore; the very first degradable disposable syringe in the World and a unique multi layer mulching film currently undergoing extensive and very successful trials with a Government of India Department.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Symphony Environmental for developing these specialist additives for us. In all we had enquiries from Delhi, Bombay, Pune ,other parts of Maharashtra, Goa , Daman , Gujarat, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Nagpur, Varanasi, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Dubai.

GOVERNMENT CORPORATION ADOPTS
AND PROMOTES d2w PRODUCTS

Luibeg International the sole appointed importers, promoters and distributors in the South of India for the d2w range of additives (made by Symphony Environmental Ltd of London) for manufacture of oxo-biodegradable plastics are delighted to announce that The Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC), a Government of Karnataka Enterprise have endorsed the manufacture and use of all plastic products containing the d2w additive.

The Corporation, established in 1970 has responsibility for every aspect of sea and inland fishing, the harbours, markets, sales outlets, fish processing and ice-making facilities throughout the entire State of Karnataka.

Under the guidance and instruction of Mr. V.K. Shetty, Managing Director of KFDC, the Corporation are now using d2w products as a mandatory requirement and will look to convert their entire plastic consumption to oxo-biodegradable plastic using the d2w range of additives. An Order will be issued in due course to all users of plastic material in the fishing industry to use only such products.

This is an extremely significant development, as the KFDC are the first Government Corporation or Department in India to adopt and specifically use and promote oxo-biodegradable plastics using d2w additives. It is strongly believed that in taking this most important direction, the KFDC will begin to reverse the damage caused by all forms of plastic waste in the fishing industry, which employs many thousands of people in Karnataka. It is intended to hold courses and open days to promote public awareness for the use of and benefits in using oxo-biodegradable plastic.

Everest Plastic Industries of Mangalore who are manufacturing d2w products for KFDC have just been appointed members of the Oxo-Biodegradable Association in London and are also accredited users of d2w additives. Everest will work closely with Luibeg International to expand the use of oxo-biodegradable d2w products in other coastal States.
Luibeg International holds a 15 year exclusive License granted by Symphony to import and sell d2w additives and manufacture products using d2w within 10 States and Union Territories in India, including the major coastal States of Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal - with approximately 2500 miles of coastline.
